Churches Together Lent Course
CARE FOR GOD’S CREATION
A Lent Course Daily Devotion with a Difference for 2021
We aim in 2021 to consider how we can live in harmony with God’s Creation and connect with one another to pray for our World, Our Neighbours and One Another in Churches Together.
Adult and children’s booklets (PDF or hard copy) with thoughts for the day and different themes will inspire our thinking. We will meet 5 times, if you wish, weekly online on ZOOM to talk about what we are learning and support one another.
How will you receive your booklet/s?
A link to PDF’s of booklets online will be sent before Lent. If you wish hard copies, please email, phone or post a form as soon as possible to Wendy who will safely deliver the required number of booklets in good time. Ash Wednesday this year is Weds 17 February.
How can we meet together during COVID Restrictions?
We suggest meeting 5 times in groups from the week beginning 22 February,
ZOOM enables us to meet others using video or phone to discuss what you are discovering, or simply to connect. Or just use the booklet yourself.
Specific Times for meetings will be confirmed in due course to help all to participate as easily as possible.
We suggest possible meeting times on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning; on Monday/Wednesday afternoon; and Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening. Discussion sessions should take up to 1 1⁄2 hours.
ZOOM may start with a large group but break up to discuss in smaller groups of 5 or 6. You can join on a computer or by audio telephone.
If you would like to take part please note your preferred choices of day and time on the form, we will try to facilitate this.
If you would be able to co-ordinate a small group, please let us know.
If you do not have a computer but do have a smart phone it may be possible to connect you with a small group on a joint video call.
If you would simply like a local telephone call this can also be arranged.
Churches Together in Oxted and District have run ecumenical Lent Courses for many years. The groups normally take place in the homes of members of CTOD churches and are led by lay people from the congregations.
At this difficult time for all of us in Lockdown we appreciate how important it is simply to connect with one another and support each other through these next few months. We hope the Lent Course will encourage you and bless you.
It is not clear yet if we will be able to meet in person during our Lent Study,
we hope perhaps to have a service to celebrate our Unity in Christ at some point soon.
Please sign up on the list sent or posted by your church (if open), or via the CTOD website, or contact Wendy Hewitt from CTOD: email@example.com or call 01883 722556 if you would like to receive online materials or the pocket-sized booklet of daily devotions for you or your family.
Please let us know if you prefer day/evening for meeting to discuss weekly what you have discovered, initially online via Zoom with the hope of face to face meeting when it is safe to do so.
